Debbie Chapman, Principal
Mrs. Chapman is a graduate of Meridian Community College, Mississippi State University, and University of Southern Mississippi. She recieved an Associate's Degree, Bachelor's Degree in Education, and a Master's Degree in Educational Leadership. She has spent 23 years working for Quitman School District as a teacher, assistant principal, and now principal.
When asked why she chose to work at Quitman School District, Mrs. Chapman said, "It is home. I want to be a part of shaping the future leaders of our community."
Mrs. Chapman's most rewarding part about working for QSD is seeing former students excel in so many areas- especially those who come back to teach for QSD and excel in the field of education.
Dr. April Goff, Assistant Principal
Dr. Goff is a graduate of Jones College, Mississippi State, and William Carey University where she recieved a Bachelor, Master, Specialist, and Doctorate Degrees in education. She has spent the last five years of her career at Quitman Junior High. She spent 2 years as the instructional facilitator before moving into the role as assistant principal.
When asked why she chose to work at Quitman School District, Dr. Goff said, "I was looking to move back into administration and had heard good things about QSD. When the opportunity presented itself, it was a no-brainer."
Dr. Goff's most rewarding part about working for QSD is being able to see the students come in as 6th graders and watching them as they mature through 7th, 8th, and high school. She says it is so rewarding to watch as they grow into amazing young people.
Quitman Junior High consists of grades 6-8. QJH is focused not only on educating students, but also on nurturing each child into becoming mature adults who have a positive impact in our local, state, national, and global community. QJH is dedicated to becoming a school of inclusiveness for all students that offers an array of opportunities for students to become engaged in the school community.
It is the hope that students develop a sense of pride as they begin to take ownership in their school, their learning, and their outcomes. Administrators, staff, and students will work together to create a level of academic excellence and build a positive culture, felt by all stakeholders, that is sustainable for years to come. QJH is excited about their journey IN PURSUIT OF EXCELLENCE!
