QHS Senior, Paige Hagwood, signed with Jones College today. She will be attending in the fall as a member of the Jones College Livestock Team. Paige will be receiving a full academic scholarship. As a member of the Livestock Team, Paige will travel to various shows throughout the year, including Cattleman’s Congress in Oklahoma City, Houston Livestock Show, and others. She will be on a co-ed team that will show various types of cattle.
Paige began showing animals with Clarke County 4H when she was six years old. For the first few years, she only showed sheep. When she was in fourth grade, she got her first calf and the past 4 years, she has shown cattle only. Paige has had a lot of success with her cattle, including Reserved Grand Champion English Steer at the State Fair and Grand Champion English Cattle. Showing animals is a huge commitment. She normally gets a new animal in March and keeps it until the last show of the season in February. By that time, it is time to start over in preparation for next year’s show.
Paige plans to work on her basics while at Jones College and then transfer to a university to eventually get a degree as an athletic trainer. Congratulations to Paige Hagwood.
