Chorus
Robby Daniels
Choral Director, Quitman High School
Mr. Daniels is a graduate of The University of Southern Mississippi where he recieved a Bachelor of Music (Music Industry) with a Minor in Business. He has spent his entire teaching career at Quitman School District. He spent 5 years as the Assistant Choral Director, then became the choral director in 2001.
When asked why he chose to work at Quitman School District, Mr. Daniels said, "I came to work in QSD in the fall of 1996 with my choral director, Rose Longwitz Jackson. She asked for an assistant to help her and I was looking for a job. I was so honored to be offered that position. QSD is home to me and is the place where I enjoyed so much music. I feel it is important to keep that momentum of quality music going for our students and our community."
Mr. Daniel's most rewarding part about working for QSD is seeing the students be successful at any of their efforts. He feels it is his job to motivate, encourage, and get each student to be the best, most productive person in society, whether that is in music or some other field he or she pursues.
Carrie Owens
Choral Director, Quitman Junior High
Mrs. Owens is a graduate of Mississippi College where he recieved a Bachelor of Music Education (vocal), Bachelor of Music (vocal) and Master of Music (Conducting). She began working at QJH in 2021.
When asked why she chose to work for Quitman School District, Mrs. Owens said, "Mrs. Rose Longwitz had been a mentor throughout my career. I was very familiar with the quality program she built here in Quitman. When Mr. Daniels called to tell me a position was open at Quitman Jr. High, I jumped at the opportunity to teach in Quitman!"
The most rewarding thing about working for QSD are the students! My current 8th grade class has been with me all three years and I'm so proud of their musical independence and growth! They are accomplishing the skills to be life long musicians!
